Svalbard: Hike to Trollsteinen, walk on the Larsbreen and fossils.

Our last day in Svalbard, and the warmest! The sun is bright and it is a real bliss in this part of the world.

We break our fast, enjoy the sun and talk about our coming kayak trip around the Adventfjord. Alas, the currents are strong and would require strenuous amount of paddling to stay on the right track.

The day is young, we decide to change our plans. We will go hiking the majestic Trollsteinen.

Under the bright Sun, we cross yet an other stream of deep water. We start the climb on a rocky path. The hike is smooth, and we soon reach the mountain ridge. The view is splendid.

The flora is scarce, only a few plants thrive in this harsh environment.

Reaching the Glacier, Larsbreen

On the glacier, Larsbreen

On the glacier

While walking on the glacier, I find a beautiful fossil, a small tree leaf. And after reaching the other side of the glacier, we stumble upon a sea of stones, covered in fossils... I am jolly, aye I am!

After this wonderful day, we get to the camp ground. It is our last "night" in Svalbard.

A last glimpse of the Midnight Sun...
